Elemental Excelerator Hub
Completed, 2014
Elemental Excelerator , known as Energy Excelerator at the time of this project, is dedicated to changing America’s energy and water industries. Having built partnerships with some of the largest energy and technology companies in the world, in 2013 they were evolving to fund companies in agriculture, water, and transportation. They wanted their new downtown Honolulu space to encourage interaction between their organization, neighbors, visitors, and potential portfolio companies. We worked closely with Elemental Excelerator’s leadership and stakeholders to craft a flexible environment appropriate for working through the complex dynamics of relationships between large utility companies and small, scrappy startups. In order to accomplish this in a relatively small space, we designed a reconfigurable desk system that could bring everyone together in a range of different patterns from large gatherings to small focus groups. Overall, the space showcases the company’s breadth and reach within its community and serves as a hub to foster their growing community from Hawaii to California and beyond.
“They worked with our stakeholders to discover how the new space could meet the needs of our program and enable growth. Beyond designing a really cool space, they helped us envision a headquarters fit for our entrepreneurs & build an innovation community.” – Dawn Lippert, CEO, Elemental Excelerator
