Walsh Avenue Tech Campus

Completed, 2012

2630 Walsh had been unoccupied for seven years when real estate developer DivcoWest acquired it at the tail end of the last recession.  Strategically located in the heart of the Silicon Valley, the 55,000sf office building was architecturally dated. We advised DivcoWest on architectural and communication strategies to unlock the building’s potential, and then led the adaptive reuse projects. First, the transformation of a loading dock into a handsome front entrance communicated architecturally the building’s relevance for today.  Our studio accomplished this while respecting all the existing structural openings in the existing building.  In addition, we realized that the building needed a power upgrade to appeal to the area’s tech companies.  While not architectural, we led a power upgrade to the whole campus, working with the local utility to get all the transformers and switch gears entitled and expand the building’s electrical capacity.  The project also included addition of a new accessible path of travel.  “We chose them due to their insight into tech tenant needs and the creative approach they bring to the development process. Their unique combination of talents allows them to offer greater flexibility and dedication to project scopes.” Sara Buss, Director of Asset Management, DivcoWest

Following the completion of these improvements, Apple became the anchor tenant. DivcoWest sold the campus to Swift realty in 2014.
